I enjoy John Piper’s teaching. Thought I’d share some with you. On the topic of Heaven.
O God, thou art my God, I seek thee, my soul thirsts for thee; my flesh faints for thee, as in a dry and weary land where no water is. So I have looked upon thee in the sanctuary, beholding thy power and glory. Because thy steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise thee. —Psalm 63
Hell is insufficient to save anybody. I mean hell cannot scare anyone into heaven, because heaven is a place for those who love God, not for those who just fear hell. This is what we hear in Psalm 63.
Fear of hell is no proof of love for God. Desiring to be rescued by the lifeboats before you drown, does not prove that you love the captain of the ship. James 2:5 says that God promised the crown of life to those who love him—not fear hell, but…
