Be Thou My Vision
While driving we often listen to books on tape, podcasts or good music.
We are currently working through a forty-seven hour biography of Abraham Lincoln titled “A Team of Rivals”. It is long and detailed, but very good. Ron enjoys Dallas Willard and Richard Foster; we both like CS Lewis books. I’m hoping to get Ron to listen to a GA Henty book with me after we finish Lincoln.
We sometimes catch the Wall Street podcast of headlines or other business podcasts. If we miss Sunday service, we find time to listen to the podcast of our pastor during the next week. We have listened to many Tim Keller sermons. We often listen for 10-15 minutes then stop it to discuss what we heard before continuing with the recording. It may take three or four hours for us to get through a one hour lesson.
As for music, we both like jazz, soft rock, M Buble, John Cash, James Taylor, Ella Fitzgerald, Gershwin and many others. Sometimes we just listen to Sirius Channel 63 and worship down the road.
Our oldest and youngest daughters both attend Rock Creek Church (PCA) where they sing many Stuart Townend songs. As a result of our visits there, we, too, have become fans. You may enjoy his albums if you like acoustical worship music in the style of old hymns. His original songs have deep messages.
Now for your listening pleasure, one of my all time favor hymns sung by Stuart Townend.

A 47 hour biography! That is a big listen. Would be interesting though.

We have some long drives! We are about two thirds of the way through it. Driving from Texas to Colorado to Utah to Montana next month. We should get ten or more hours in during that trip. Not quite like driving the Outback, but close.

That is still a monster drive though 🙂
