Twelve Things I Am Grateful for on the 12th

Two years.

I am trying to write this monthly feature.

“Twelve Things I’m grateful for on the 12th” began 13 months ago. It is good to count my blessings.

But this month…trying to write it…

I can’t.

Forgive me, dear readers.

I am grateful for many things. I really am. But…

Today I grieve.

Today I remember my son.

Today I remember….

His joy.

His laughter.

His voice.

His pickup lines.

His stomping through the house.

His clumsiness off stage.

His beauty and grace on stage.

His kindness.

His lack of filters.

His hugs.

His stories.

His phone calls.

His goofy smiles.

His love.

His life.

Mostly, I am remember that he knew Christ as Savior. He knows Him now face to face in all of His glory.

I miss him.

I love him still.

Two years ago tonight The Accident ended my son’s earthly life.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Accident was on August 12, 2013. For months the 12th brought me to tears. Then, about a year later, I decided to choose gratitude and healing rather than sorrow. Thus “Twelve Things I am Thankful for on the 12th”.
Gratitude, Grief
I write about my life, my journey, my family, and my faith. I am wife to one, mom to seven with one in heaven, and grandmother to many. I am also full-time caregiver to my stepmom E who suffers from dementia due to Alzheimer’s. In my spare time I like to read, travel, crochet, bike, and play with our black pug Molly.
