Responsible, a follow up
Following up on my post about responsibility…
One of my sons told me, “Mom, if I was hungry when I was ten, that was on you. If I am still hungry when I am twenty-seven, that’s on me.”
In other words, there comes a point when we are no longer responsible for our children. When they grow up and become adults, we cannot do life for them. They make choices and face the results of those choices, good or bad.
My job as a parent of adult offspring is to love them and pray for them. Earnestly and frequently pray for them. One of my favorite ways to pray for my adult children is to pray as Paul prayed for the Ephesians:
I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe.

Last year I wrote an article about praying as Paul prayed. You may want to check it out.

Really enjoyed this post. Responsibility is definitely a big discipline we as Christians need to cultivate.

Yes. We need to cultivate and study this discipline.
And we need to be careful not to pick up that for which we are not responsible. Carrying things I am not supposed to carry makes it harder to carry those things I should.

Indeed. Amen to that haha.
