Sunshine
A fellow blogger wrote about feeling tired all the time. Depression over a long period.
I commented on his post. I realized as I typed my answer that I was writing a new poem. I have revised what I originally wrote. I pray it helps him. I pray it helps you.
Sunshine
Tired? All the time?
My hands are tired.
My feet are tired.
My mind is tired.
My soul is tired.
My life is tired.
Have you ever felt this way?
Have you ever been depressed?
For a very long time?
Yes. I have felt this way.
For a very long time.
Darkness all around.
Cold, always cold.
Heaviness.
Tired all the time.
It’s hard to accomplish anything when I’m depressed.
It’s hard to see in the darkness.
It’s hard to move in the cold.
It’s hard to lift my eyes unto the hills in the heaviness.
It’s hard to live.
But I did live.
I did the next right thing.
Even when I did not want to.
Even in the darkness.
Even in the cold.
Even in the heaviness.
I moved, I saw, I lived.
With the help of my friends.
With the help of my mate.
With the help of my God.
And then there were glimpses of sunshine.
Just a glimpse.
Only a ray or two, really.
I felt the warmth.
I saw light in my darkness.
Then, a few dark days later,
there was a warm, sunny afternoon.
An entire afternoon of warmth and light.
It was glorious.
It was beautiful.
I felt tired that night.
It was a different tired.
It was a good tired.
I rested that night.
Then…a few days later…the sun shined all day long.
It happened again and again!
Warmth.
Sunshine.
LIFE!
Joy!
Peace!
Now I still have dark days.
Dark moments.
Dark weeks.
But they are surrounded by bright days.
They are surrounded by sunshine.
They are surrounded by Son shine.
May you find the Son and in Him find sunshine.
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

A poem about overcoming the darkness I wrote two years ago.
This weekend I’m facing hard things. He us still the light of the world, even when darkness tries to press us down. In this world we will have troubles, but He has overcome the world.

Only someone who has been there can truly understand and describe it so well.

I am honored you linked my post. And thank you. This post was a blessing. I think I forget that I’m constantly surrounded by sunshine because in the moment all I see is darkness. But I should never forget the faithfulness of Him who is my hope and strength forever. This was truly beautiful. Thank you so much for this post.

John, we all forget at times. Part of why we need the Body of Christ – to remind us what He has done for us.
Find sunshine today, my friend.

I agree. Accountability within the body is so important.
And likewise, I hope you also find sunshine today 🙂 Thank you!
Sandy
Beautiful poem, I have some of those moments.

Dark moments will be had by all. I pray you have many more Sunshine moments than dark moments.
