Dear Mommas of tweens and teens,
It’s hard. Yes, raising adults who are kind, loving, respectful, and honest is hard. But don’t give up!
You are not their friend. They have lots of friends at school or co-op classes, church, sports, scouts, and jobs. They have fun with their friends. The are silly with their friends. Their friends don’t hold them accountable. They will not learn the important stuff from their friends.
They will learn the important stuff by watching you and the other adults in their life. They learn the important stuff by watching adults model the important stuff.
You are their mom. They only have one of you. Be the best mom you can be.
Some day, when they are adults, you can be their friend. Right now, be their mom.
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9 | ESV
Love and prayers,
An empty-nester who’s adult offspring are kind, loving, respectful, and honest by the grace of God and despite my many failings
I love this, Kathleen. I’m in the “friend” season now with my adult chldren, and it’s wonderful!

I am in the friends stage with most of mine. I love it! Still have two in the transition, in college so they call for help and money.
One I may never be friends with, but that is on her now. I’m open and willing when she is able.
Grandkids are the best! #4 due at Christmas! A girl this time!
