What I Can’t (or don’t want to) Live without

Day 3 Three Things You Can’t Live Without

June 3, 1937. The Duke of Windsor married American Wallis Simpson. He loved her so much he knew he could not live without her, so he gave up the Crown of Great Britain to marry her.
What are three things you can’t live without (or wouldn’t want to).

If you had asked me this question thirty years ago my answer would have been radically different. Back in my twenties, my answer probably would have been material things. Now my answer is fairly simple:

Three Things I Do Not Want to Live Without

1. The love of God and my relationship with Him (and all that comes with it) – peace, joy, trials, forgiveness, strength in weakness, comfort, and heavenly wisdom. And so very much more!

2. The ability to forgive. I have been hurt by people. I used to hang on to bitterness and resentment. I would tell the story of how they hurt me to anyone who would listen. Now., I want to walk in the peace that comes from forgiveness. I am quick to forgive even when my feelings are still bruised. It may take a bit longer for me hurts to heal, but I can forgive other even while still healing from the wounds they inflicted. Yes, I forgive because it matters to God, but it also helps me to lose the anger and resentments. Forgiveness helps me to love those who are difficult to love. Life is too precious to spend it being angry and resentful.

3. My family. I DO NOT WANT to live without my family. But over the past three years, I have learned that if I lose them, I can go on living. I miss those who are gone too soon. I cherish their memory. I look forward to seeing them in Heaven some day. The pain and trials I have been through have made me and my faith stronger. I know I would survive without my husband and my family, but I definitely don’t want to prove that any time soon.
