Don’t Judge Me

A friend posted this meme. I thought it was spot-on!

We all have a story. I don’t know all of yours. You don’t know all of mine. We need to stop judging each other.

When we see folks at a restaurant, store, church, or work, we can’t know all they have been through that day or that year.

The gal at the checkout may be working to pay off bills from when her child was ill last winter. The server at the restaurant may be tired from studying all night. The driver who cut you off on the way to work may have just left the hospice center where his mom is spending her last hours or days on planet earth.

There are people all around us who are living in abusive situations and simply trying to survive another day while trying to figure out their next step. “How do I get my kids away from him alive,” that mom in front of you may be thinking.

The kid who acts up in class each day may be living a hell you don’t even want to imagine.

The family with all those kids at the store? Half of them are foster kids and some of the others are adopted from foster care. They’re doing the best they can.

Be kind. Give grace to others. Smile and do your best to be a blessing rather a curse.

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
