Sad day, Great day

Yesterday I was sad.

One of my son’s university dance profs announced yet another student getting her big break. She has a part in a movie or video, I forget, plus a contract to dance with a great company in Chicago!

I’m thrilled for her!! She’s an amazing young woman! An amazing dancer!

She was his dance partner. He loved her. They were great together. They were dear friends. They were lovely dancing together.

I was sad.

I’m thrilled for her!

But I was sad that he is not here to see it. To be a part of dance any more. I miss having him around.

I know he is dancing before the Throne of God! He is worshipping his Savior! He is free and alive!

I am thrilled for her!

Yet I was sad yesterday.

So I had a good cry. Wrote about my feelings. Cried a bit more. Then took a nap.

Ron and I were talking this morning about yesterday. About my having a sad day. And a good cry.

He said, “You can’t change the way you feel. You just have to feel it sometimes. But you can decide how you are going to think about what you feel. And how you act on what you feel.”

This reminded me of Romans 8. We are flesh. We have emotions. But we do not have to be driven by our emotions. We can be – must be – led by the Spirit because, if we are believers, the Spirit of God lives in us.

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.

Oh, and he took me out for cinnamon waffles before our local Veterans Day Parade! ☺️🇺🇸💙❤️

Today is a great day!

I am grateful I get to do life with my sweetheart.

The young woman mentioned in the post. She also is birthday buddies with Andrew!
