Love, Part 2

For those of you saying this country is full of hate, hate everywhere…,

First, I love you. But I disagree with you.

There is hate and disappointment being expressed on both sides.

BUT many people I know are full of love and grace!!

Many who voted on both sides love people and love Jesus. Many who didn’t vote for either of them love people and love Jesus.

Please, don’t lump everyone together. Don’t judge everyone by the words or actions of the few.

I love many who voted for Hillary. They worked with passion for what the believe.

I love many who voted for Trump. They worked with passion for what they believe.

I love many who voted third party. They researched non-conventional options and worked for what they believe.

I love my straight friends. I love my single friends. I love my gay friends. I love my married, widowed, and divorced friends.

I love men and I love women. I care deeply are the condition of our nation, which is made up of individuals I love.

I do not hate.

I believe many others do not hate. I may not agree with their politics, but I don’t believe they are full of hate

Look at those close to you. Look at the people you live with. Look at your friends and co-workers.

Do they love? Do they shine Jesus – Do they help the hurting, bind up the broken-hearted, feed the hungry?

Cling to the good in those around you, your neighbors. Be the good around you to your neighbors.

This is how we live and love and change the world, one person at a time.

  • We vote at a Methodist church around the corner from our house. Some of the women were working to prepare lunch for the election workers. Others were helping to sell soup, bread, and cookies to help support Methodist missions world-wide. We bought some soup. Yummy, homemade vegetable beef soup.

As I watched my neighbors coming and going, I wondered how many or how few would vote the same as I. And I decided it didn’t matter in the immediate scheme of things: I can be friends with these people. No one was fighting or ranting and raving. No one was rude. People were concerned that I needed to sit down when they saw my walker. We were all just ordinary people. No movie stars, no celebs, no glitz and glamor. The heart of America. No matter how we voted, none of us were there out of hatred, but out of love for our country. It was a lesson well-learned. We demonize each other, often without cause.

It was good for me .
