Today I am grateful the American election is over!
I’m also grateful for my friends who won or lost with grace, compassion, and dignity. There are a few of you on Social media today.
The rest of you…repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.
Jesus never gloated or boasted.
Nor did he sulk or say, “You guys are getting what you deserve. Hate won. I’ll just sit back and cry because hate won.”
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects.
Are the words you’ve typed or spoken showing love?
My friends, please do not disregard scriptural truth as you celebrate your guy winning. Do not turn your back on God’s instructions as you deal with your guy losing.
If you don’t walk in grace and humility because of your love for your neighbors, do it because God is still on the throne. And we will still have to give an account for every idle word spoken.
How can we help heal our nation? What should we do now?
Prayer. Lots of prayer.
Not gloating over a victory.
Not spewing hatred in defeat.
Love your neighbor. Smile. Laugh. Hug. Love.
Take a meal to a shut-in or new momma.
Send a card to newly bereaved.
Overlook offenses and don’t comment on hateful posts. Don’t join the arguments.
Love. And pray.
We can love people regardless of who they voted for.
