Time

When did that happen?

Was it last week?
Or was it last year?

Was that before The Accident?
Or was it just after?

What time was it?

The seconds tick by so slowly.

Minutes. Hours. Seem to last forever.

Days seem so long!

The years since I heard him laugh,
It’s been forever since I hugged his neck or watched him dance.

But only a few days ago he was finishing high school.
Seems like just yesterday when he was here, stomping through my house.
Moments ago that I heard that knock on the door.

How could it be more than three years?

Time. It makes no sense now.

How do I track time? How do I live in the present when one I love lives in eternity?

Grief, poetry, time

I write about my life, my journey, my family, and my faith. I am wife to one, mom to seven with one in heaven, and grandmother to many. I am also full-time caregiver to my stepmom E who suffers from dementia due to Alzheimer’s. In my spare time I like to read, travel, crochet, bike, and play with our black pug Molly.
