Pray for Leaders

The past couple of days have reminded me that we must pray for those in leadership! Not just of our favorite support group but also of our local churches and those Christian leaders who stand on a national or world stage.

Support group leaders, pastors and their wives, small group leaders, national figures who seem to be so solid.

All of these folks may, at times, appear to be giants of the faith.

Yet they are human. Frail and weak at times. Strong and mighty at other times. They have times when they feel the power of God in their lives. And they have times when they feel the attack of the enemy – sometimes in the form of flesh and bones. These attacks hurt. They wound. They discourage.

I know a few of these folks personally. I know they have days of utter exhaustion. They have days when they burn dinner or can’t find anything to wear to a special occasion. They spill coffee and accidentally break their favorite plate, just like you and me. It’s easy to forget that they have families needing attention, dirty dishes to clean, laundry to wash, and dogs that poop in the wrong places. They experience heart ache and flat tires. Sometimes they are overwhelmed by life.

And in the cases of the some I know, they have lost loved ones. Children and others. They are grieving as some of us are. Some have stained relationships with adult children or parents.

These men and women who spend so much time speaking into our lives, writing books and bible studies that minister to our spirits, and teaching truth according to God’s Word. They pray and fast They study and seek God. They intercede on our behalf.

And we take it all for granted because they seen so polished, so knowledgeable, so spiritual. They are these things; they are knowledgeable and spiritual. And they are human living in a broken, fallen world.

So please, pray for the leaders of the faith.

This is a hard battle the are fighting. They need our support. They need our encouragement and our kind words. They need us to remember that they are doing the best they know to do as they seek God and His wisdom as they lead ministries, churches, and their own families.
Mostly they need our PRAYER!

  • So on the mark, Kathleen. If there really is a spiritual awakening in America, as I believe there is, Satan is going to go into overdrive to block it. His targets will be both public figures and private individuals who are sharing the gospel.
