Angry Rants? No Thanks.
So many Facebook rants full of anger and rage! Many posted by folks who confess Christ. Yet God tells us in Galatians that strife, divisions, fits of anger are works of the flesh. We are to live by the Spirit.
No, I’m not happy with everything going on in Washington, but I don’t have time or energy to waste on fits on anger over what’s going on in government I cannot change. I choose love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Ok, truthfully, I need to work on that last one.)
But is it really worth all the energy and time it takes to be so angry about something you cannot change?
Let’s work to make our local community better. Let’s love those we spend time with, family and strangers alike. Be joyful in our daily work and life. Be at peace within ourselves and those around us. Be patient with other drivers and shoppers. Be kind to those who serve us in restaurants and other businesses. Be gentle with children around us. Be good to everyone. Be faithful in our jobs and volunteer positions. Exercise self-control when speaking or posting.
If you don’t like what’s going on, Facebook rants filled with anger, accusations, and rage are not going to affect change. Prayer and walking in the Spirit can and will change you and change the world.

I couldn’t agree more. There’s lots of stuff on FB that I just cruise right on by. Not worth it.

I care about politics and other issues. I’m just not willing to spend time being angry about things I can’t change.

Me too. If I didn’t limit myself, I’d be reading politics all day. That’s one reason I got rid of all the click-bait on my FB page. Wastes time. It’s not that I don’t care; just that I’m already doing what I can.

It makes me sad to see sisters in Christ raving and ranting against “the other side” or trashing a political candidate. It’s not what we are called to do.
