Unusual Things

A lovely young woman wrote on her Facebook page this morning and got me thinking. She’s hung out with my kids since middle school and is now a college graduate. And an amazing woman. She asked the question:

What is something you have done that is so unusual that you are certain you are the only person on my friends list of 500 to have done it?

I typed one answer. Then came up with a few more. Here are my answers:

Gave birth to seven Duncans. πŸ‘§πŸ»πŸ‘§πŸ»πŸ‘¦πŸΌπŸ‘¦πŸΌπŸ‘¦πŸΌπŸ‘¦πŸΌπŸ‘§πŸ»

Taught CPR, First Aid, Water Safety, and Canoeing for the Red Cross. I was an Instructor Trainer for these courses.

Wrote a Bible study on grief for Precept Ministries International. πŸ“š ✝️

Had a daughter fall off Lookout Mountain and survive. β›°πŸš‘πŸ₯

Have a son who’s an OU Cheerleader. πŸ‹πŸ»

Rode my bike through five Burroughs of NYC. And through downtown Chicago. 🚴

Rode an elephant across the OU campus. 🐘

Held a large snake in Tangier, Morocco. 🐍

Learned to hang glide at age 50. 😳

Got rear ended by an ambulance. And totaled the trailer. πŸš—πŸš‘πŸ˜«

Worked at six different summer camps including one for deaf child and one for kids with asthma. ⛺️

Traveled the US teaching Home School for High School seminars for fourteen years. πŸ“š

We once took five kids ages 18 months to 11 years to Puerto Rico for a week. I was pregnant with #6.

Passed the CPA exam first time. (Back when we only used pencils, not computers.) ✏️

I’ve never thrown my mashed potatoes up against the wall and I’ve never been to Boston in the fall. 😏

What are some unusual things you’ve done?

  1. Your list is incredible! What a ride you’ve had so far–I’m hoping we will get to continue to read about what’s to come via your blog (keep writing is what I am trying to say!). I need a writing prompt, and I may take this and run with it. A very good read!
