Can We Still Be Friends?
I don’t drink coffee.
But I love Jesus.
Can we still be friends?
I attended an Episcopal day school.
But I went to a Catholic high school.
Can we still be friends?
I was baptized in a Church of Christ.
But I’ve attended Baptist & Presbyterian Churches and Assemblies of God.
Can we still be friends?
I homeschooled my kids.
But some went to public and private school.
Can we still be friends?
I love the University of Oklahoma.
But I live in Texas.
Can we still be friends?
I have two dogs.
But I don’t like indoor cats.
Can we still be friends?
I drive a Honda.
But I prefer Ford over Chevy.
Can we still be friends?
I like to cycle and lift weights.
But I’ve never done cross fit.
Can we still be friends?
I like hummus.
But I don’t like olives.
Can we still be friends?
I have grey hair and am a bit overweight.
But I have friends of all ages and sizes.
Can we still be friends?
I am married.
I have seven children.
I have friends who are single, gay, divorced.
Can we still be friends?
We may have different likes and dislikes.
We may have different pasts.
We may look different from each other.
We may even live in different towns.
But if we are both believers
we are sisters in Christ.
In this world we will have troubles.
And we need a friend to walk through life with.
Despite our differences
Can we still be friends?
Please.
I need you.
