I’ve begun sharing scripture posts in a dementia caregivers group. Here is my post this week. In the comments, please share passages that encourage you in whatever you are walking through.
SUNDAY SCRIPTURE POST
I love Ephesians 2. The whole chapter!
It reminds me that I am saved grace. Because I have received grace, even when I was dead and worthless in my sin, I must give grace. Always grace. No matter what this disease throws at me.
Verse ten reminds us we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus TO DO GOOD WORKS which were PREPARED IN ADVANCE by GOD for us to do.
This disease did not surprise Him. Quite the contrary! He prepared each of us who are believers in Christ Jesus to do good works, the good works set before us as we care for our people with dementia.
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
