I’ve been in a battle since early July. On the outside it looks like a simple legal battle, but it is really much more.
I am battling with people over something very important; the outcome of the battle will affect me and others I care about for many years. There is no winning in this battle, but there has already been great loss.
I didn't want this fight; I didn't ask for it. Others made choices. Now I must fight for one who cannot fight for themself, one who trusts me to fight for them.

My parents weren’t perfect. Far from it. They made many mistakes. They did the best they could with the tools they had. I chose to forgive their failings, and my life is better because I chose forgiveness and grace rather than resentment and bitterness.
I pray my children will do the same for me and that their lives are better for it.
Many years ago, as an ice breaker at church one morning, the Bible study leader asked, "When you were a little girl, what did you want to be when you grew up?"
The other women in the class answered things like scientist, teacher, mommy, princess, nurse. Typical little girl answers. We all smiled and laughed.

Twelve things. Gratitude. I've chosen gratitude for many months. Years, in fact.
When I first started this monthly list, I thought I might run out of things to share. But choosing gratitude, over time, has made my list grow longer! I'm constantly finding new things to be grateful for.

If you've messed up like I seem to do almost daily, confess your sin or simply talk to God about your mistake.
He is faithful to forgive what needs to be forgiven. He can show us how to make amends for our major mess-ups.

I spent the past week doing an intensive study of Galatians at Precept Ministries. I posted this a few days ago:
Halfway through lesson Four, Chapter Three of Galatians and my brain is about to explode!
Plus, I've already spent a few hours with the Holy Spirit ripping junk out of my heart. These intensive studies are not always fun. But they are amazing!
Studying God's Word => Truth => Life => Conviction => Search my heart, Oh God! => Repentance => Forgiveness of those who Read more [...]
I shared my brokenness with someone who loves me last night. They failed this quiz.
I was able to calmly tell them they failed and that I needed a different answer. I told him I needed him to listen to me, to hear me and validate my suffering rather than trying to fix it.
In helping him understand what I needed - rather than just getting angry and bitter and isolating myself even more - I was able to help myself.
I gave him a chance to try again. He gave a wonderful answer on Read more [...]
