There are many memes and graphics like this one all over social media today.
At least 59 dead. That number will rise. It always does. Even when the media stops reporting.
At least 500 injured.
It sounds like all they need is a bandaid and kiss and all will be well. Nope. "Injured" can mean so many things. Head trauma. Lost limbs. Paralysis. Permanent disability.
Lives were changed yesterday. Forever changed.
Pain. Physical. Emotional. Mental. The pain will be there for months and Read more [...]
I had a friend years ago who I would walk with. She was about twenty-five years older than I was. She had a special needs daughter ten years younger than me, her youngest of six. Her daughter would always need her help, would always live with them.
We were walking through the neighborhood one day. I had a baby in the stroller. I said, "He's growing so fast! Sometimes I wish they could stay little."
She looked me in the eye and, with an expression of sadness, said, "I used to say that about my kiddos. Read more [...]
I was thinking about this today. Thinking about my post from last week on Photos.
Watching video of Andrew is painful this month.
I've had months and months and months when I loved watching him dance. I loved laughing at his antics. I've had days when I craved seeing a video and spent hours looking at YouTube or Facebook videos. But not this month. Right now it simply hurts.
I wonder if these times when it hurts to see photos or videos aren't, in part, one way God uses me to Read more [...]
If you have been praying for someone...
If you have loved ones you wish would turn from their sin...
If it seems to have been so long...

Don't give up!
Pray without ceasing.
You are not alone. God hears your prayers.

Since January 9 I've been working through "Designed to Pray" which is a daily devotional. Each day the book has prayer prompts. Here is my prayer from yesterday.
Lord, open doors.
Lord, open eyes.
Lord, open hearts.
As only You can.
Just as you promised.
Doors for reconciliation.
Eyes to see truth.
Hearts to love one another as You love us.

I'm sitting praying. One sweet friend had surgery this morning to remove diseased lymph nodes. Another was at the hospital with her daddy ill all weekend.
A third is waiting as her husband of nearly 50 years will soon see Jesus face to face. This man will leave behind a legacy that reached countless lives. He will find treasures laid up for him in heaven. My friend will miss him though she knows this life is but a vapor and she will one day join her sweet husband in the presence of God.

Today I heard yet another story of an adult child who lost her parents. Not to death, but to grief.
This time a young woman's little brother drowned when she was a teenager. Her father went into a deep depression that resulted in his drinking his life away. Her mom simply stopped living. She still went through the motions, but she didn't live.
On the day her brother died, this young woman lost her parents.
They didn't take pictures of her dressed for her senior prom. They missed Read more [...]
