I did quite a bit of traveling this spring. After being in Oklahoma for our son's wedding, I hit the road. I was away from home April 11 through May 10. I was able to visit friends in Chattanooga, Nashville, Memphis, near Birmingham, and Tuscaloosa. I spent a weekend at a women's conference (check out info for the fall conference) and eight days at a study program where I spent time with men and women from around the country. (The summer study program will be Mark.) I attended my youngest daughter's Read more [...]
You may have noticed I haven't been posting much. Life is very busy right now!
I've spent a great deal of time outside working on the new trail to the Back Five, clearing flower beds, planting trees, repairing gutters, and pressure washing just about everything that doesn't move. I will soon be spreading gravel and dirt on the driveway and low spots around the house with my front end loader. That is if it ever stops raining.
Easter is this weekend which means it's almost April! And that means it's Read more [...]
I sit here alone in my friend's home in North Dakota waiting to head to the airport. Just outside there are piles of snow. A downy woodpecker is enjoying breakfast at one of the many bird feeders near the windows.
I am grateful.
Four days ago I flew from Wichita Falls to Dallas to Chicago to Fargo where my friend Amy picked me up. We hadn't seen each other in years, not since their family PCS'ed from Shepherd Air Force Base. Her smile upon my arrive was a indication of things to come. We drove Read more [...]
This weekend I am in Grand Forks, North Dakota at Grand Forks Air Force Base. My friend Casey invited me to a women's conference here.
Along with the women of the Prairie Rose Chapel, I will be studying Living a Life of True Worship tonight and tomorrow. This 40-Minute Study is written by my friends Kay Arthur, Bob and Diane Vareen. We will complete this six weeks study in just one weekend!
Today the leadership team decorated the space and went over the worship songs and the schedule for the conference. Read more [...]
Sometimes life is hard.
We had planned a weekend in Chattanooga.
Our weekend trip did not turn out as expected.
Not at all!
Late night driving after work.
To make second day easier.
So we could catch dinner with our kid.
We drove seven hours and enjoyed the time talking and traveling together.
Car wrecks blocked our road.
Rain made winding detour dangerous.
Late arrival means missing appointments.
Fourteen hour drive became eighteen hours.
But we arrived Read more [...]

In grief support groups, parents often speak of an unending sadness. They say no matter what they do, even when they appear to others to be happy, they are sad under all the smiles and laughter.
In my life, I would describe the feeling more as a longing, not sadness.
In my life, in great part because of my faith, I have true joy! I have peace! I have found healing after our many losses, including the death of our son.
My life is good, yet I have a longing. I am content, yet eager for the Read more [...]
Following up on yesterday's post about coffee. Here is the story of our very large coffee cup collection, which I use for soup or ice cream since I don't drink coffee.
Ron will only buy mugs in places where he actually went in and bought coffee. No online shopping for this man! So even though we drove past Disney World, we didn’t go in, so don’t have any of the Disney mugs. I think we need to go to Disney just to get the mugs…and get a selfie with Pluto or Goofy, because a friend of Andrew Read more [...]
