AddictionÂ
I just heard about a woman I care about “going back out”. This time it resulted in her death. She loved Jesus and tried to get sober many times. But the addiction won this time.
I hate addiction. I hate what it does to people I love and care for deeply. I hate what it does to their friends and families. I hate what it did to me growing up around it. If you have an addiction to alcohol or drugs, there is hope. There is help. It’s not easy, but it can be overcome. If someone you love is an alcoholic or addict, there is hope for you, too.
I have many friends who are living proof! They live wonderful, joyful, sober lives with the help of God, others in the program, and a great 12-step program. They have found hope and peace in sobriety. They are willing to help you find that hope and peace as well.
If you are the family member of an addict, Al-Anon maybe helpful to you. Check out www.al-anon.org to find a meeting near you.
Check out Celebrate Recovery at www.celebraterecovery.com or, for local folks, there’s a meeting at Heritage Church on Tuesdays at 6:30. Or check Alcoholics Anonymous at www.aa.org for help.
Please don’t let addiction ruin your life. I care about you. I want you to live!
