Cards

My dad gave her a card for every occasion, every holiday. St. Patrick’s Day, Flag Day, Thanksgiving, Easter, anniversary, birthday, Wednesday. You name it, he got her a card. She loved getting cards.

Since she moved to Texas, family has stopped sending cards. Her family. My siblings. No birthday cards. No Christmas cards. Mother’s Day she got a card only from me.

In June, with her birthday coming up, I decided to take action.

I posted on my personal social media page asking my friends to consider sending her a birthday card. Her birthday is July 11. My friends responded!

By the first of July she had a dozen cards waiting. And they kept coming!

We opened a few each morning starting July 1. Then we opened the rest on her birthday.

I’ll leave them out until the end of the month.

She reads a few every time she walks by.

And she feels loved!!

Sometimes we have to put our need out there for others to see. We have to be honest and ask in order for others to know how to help us.
