Many of us who grieve have trouble stopping the ugly thoughts, the flashbacks, the "What ifs". Going to sleep at night can be a challenge when all we can think about is the pain of missing our loved one.
We can’t simply stop thinking about something. We must start thinking about something else.
If I tell you to stop thinking about purple birthday cakes, you will have an image of a purple cake in your head. You cannot will yourself to stop thinking about cakes. But you can choose to think about Read more [...]

Some of this was me, some was people I loved.
All of it was bad. All of it was ugly.

A four letter word.
I hate it!
But those of us who have experienced this tragedy live with fear.
Not as others do, for they may fear the unknown.
We fear what we know.
We fear losing another child.
Yet, even in the midst of tragedy, scripture is still true.
God is still compassionate, gracious, loving, and kind.
He still walks beside us.
He will never leave us.
He still tells us to fear not.
In Him, we can know peace.

Last night I posted my Photo 101 assignment. It wasn't fun or happy. But it was where my head was. This morning, I want to assure you that my head is not always in that place.
My life is full of joy! I don't sit around my house grieving or thinking about grief.
If you read about my Travels (find them in the category cloud at the side bar) you will see that we have adventures and fun. Or check out our cycling adventures!
Or let me tell you about my week....

I need to remember this every single day.
I am not responsible for:
Anyone else's happiness.
Anyone else's recovery.
Anyone else's behavior, choices, or mental health.
Anyone else's financial well-being, living conditions, or eating habits.
Anyone else's spiritual condition.
I AM responsible for:
My mental health
My financial well-being
My living conditions
My eating habits

Today I choose to trust You.
Today I choose to not be anxious about anything.
Today is in Your hands.
Today I will remember that You are close to broken-hearted.
Today I will praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Today I will think on those things that are true and noble and right and pure and lovely and admirable and excellent and praiseworthy.
Today I will strive toward being holy as You are holy.
Today I will rejoice because You are near.
Today I will live for today.

Tonight I sat dinner with some wonderful ladies. We are at a week long study program. They are godly women. Kind and fun. I love these ladies!!
But one told the story of a car wreck her daughter was is. In detail!!!
Lots of details of how the cars hit, the airbags, how it almost rolled over, and more.
"O the miracle!"
"Angels were taking care of her!"
"So glad she was in a big car!"
"Prayers of a momma working."
I just sat there. Unable to speak or leave.

I have seen this type of thing on FaceBook often over the past few months.
But here's the deal: It is NEVER TOO LATE TO FORGIVE SOMEONE ... UNTIL YOU ARE DEAD!
Even after they are out of your life or dead themselves, you can still forgive those who have hurt you! Unforgiveness affects you as much or more than it affects the person against whom you are holding a grudge. It eats at your insides. It makes you angry at things which should not make you angry. It can make you a bitter old person Read more [...]
After I posted pictures of me at the Memphis Zoo, a friend asked me how many favorite animals I have.
My answers is LOTS!
My top two are Komodo Dragons (which have poisonous saliva) and Poison Dart Frogs. Not sure what that says about me.
But I HATE slugs. I use the word HATE here. I am sure they were part of the curse.
I am sure that Hell is full of shiny slug trails. And no salt. There is no salt to pour on the slugs in hell. I am not going to hell.
I don't want any of my friends to go to Read more [...]
