There was a knock on the door. I looked out the window and saw a cop car. Not good. Never a good thing to have a cop at your door. Worse this time of day. I grabbed my bathrobe...

Asher, son of Jacob
I have joined the A-Z Challenge for 2016. Each day of April, except Sundays, we write posts thematically from A-Z.
Since this is the first day, I am supposed to write about something that begins with A. I could write about any of the things listed above, but today I need the post to be about some abracadabra!
I need some magic!
I am hosting a lunch for moms who are part of While We're Waiting tomorrow, Read more [...]
For my long time readers, there are only two more days of this class. I hope my daily posting of pictures hasn't bored you.
Today's assignment is:
Today, show us an edge — a straight line, a narrow ridge, a precipice.
Today's Tip: To make sure your edge packs a punch, use a photo editing tool to check the alignment and adjust the image, if needed, so that your edge is perfectly straight.
My photos for this assignment aren't very cheery. They are where my brain is tonight. They include straight Read more [...]
The Accident took place around 11:45 pm just outside of Dumas, TX. The cast and crew of the outdoor musical TEXAS had spent the day at a BBQ celebrating the end of another successful season. Six people loaded into a Ford Taurus to drive the hundred miles back to Canyon, TX. As he pulled onto Hwy 287, the driver ran a stop sign. An 18-wheeler broadsided them. Five people died that night.
Many of our friends rallied around us. They prayed for us, cried with us, and celebrated our son's life with us. Read more [...]

It does kind of bother me that the youth pastor at my church has not once asked how my teens are doing. I have been praying that someone would call and invite my 18 yr old and my 13 yr old out for a sonic date. Or just to talk. Or for a bike ride. Or do anything with them. Unfortunately the person who took my daughter to Bahama Bucks all the time was the same one who died.
I called one of the college interns at our church and asked them to take my daughter out for coffee. They went out a few Read more [...]
When we see someone hurting, we all want to say something, anything, to make it better. But the truth is, you cannot make it better with your words. And some things can actually make a grieving parent feel worse. Only God can heal the brokenness felt by a parent who has buried their child.
If you do say one of these things, know that we will forgive you. We know you are trying to help and love us. We try to walk in grace and forgiveness. But if you can, take time think before you speak. And please Read more [...]
